I've read the posts on this forum, and most places recommended are down closer to Greece. We will be coming from Montenegro and would only have a few days so not sure how far south we want to go. Is the area along the coast north of Durres worth it? From google maps it looks like there could be some nice beaches up there. Are there? Anyone been? What is your favorite place in that region?
Hey there! We are going for three weeks to Albania, and will rent a car. However, we have no experience with this country, so wonder which car rental company do you have good experiences with? Thanks!
I'm going to be traveling from Shkoder to Tirana, and then from Tirana to Durres in time for an overnight ferry.
Buses seem chaotic but at least running. I shouldn't have any issues based on day of the week or anything, right? I don't want to get there and then miss my ferry out because buses don't run on Sundays or something like that.
I guess I'm just looking for reassurances. Has anyone used public transport in Albania recently? If so, how did you find the experience? Were there any odd…
Me and my girlfriend are heading for Albania in the middle of July. We're starting of in the north with the Komani lake and Valbona to Theth trek, then heading south for the riviera. We're mainly looking for small, quiet beaches with camping facilities. For various reasons (mainly financial), we won't be renting a car so I understand that getting to some places might be a problem. Are there taxis or local people that one can hire for shorter rides from the villiages along the main road…
I'm thinking of going hiking in the Albanian Alps, the Prokletije range.
Is there any online resource or a book that lists walking routes, or maybe a map with routes and walking times? I'm thinking of spending about 5 days in the mountains, but it could be a bunch of day walks.
What is the better base, Valbona or Theth, or does it not matter?
Is it possible to drive to either Valbona or Theth in a high clearance, but 2WD car? I was thinking of driving to Valbona, then hiking to Theth…
I am planning to go to Athens by bus from either Gjirokastra or Sarande. Which one would be a shorter ride in your opinion?
Also, I have a valid passport (bangladeshi citizen) with multiple-entry visas of Schengen and USA. Can I expect a smooth entry to Greece border?
Is it easy to find accommodation after arriving at a town or village in most places in Albania, or is it necessary to book in advance ?
How much should one expect to pay for a clean double room with attached bathroom in northern villages such as Valbone, Theth, and in the countryside in other parts of the country (if not booking in advance) ?
Hi! My friend and I wants to travle to Albania this summer, but want to know if it's safe to travel two girls alone?
are there any thing we need to know about behavior, dresscode etc?
Hi, I'll be arriving in Durres from Bari by ferry and wondered if anyone:
1. Has recently taken this ferry and can give a review, especially if you booked the 'lady berth' cabin.
2. Can advise on how easy it is to get local currency upon arrival at the port.
I have 4 days from arrival in Durres to get to Sarajevo and thought to travel straight away to Shkoder.
1. Am I missing out if I look to leave Durres so soon?
2. Are there direct furongs, or would I connect via Tirana? Advice on where to pick…
