Itinerary
Day 1 Nairobi
Welcome to Kenya! Nairobi offers a bustling urban African setting. Get your first glimpse of wildlife at the Langata Giraffe Sanctuary.
Day 2 Mto Wa Mbu
Explore the land of the red-robed Maasai as you travel to Tanzania. Set up camp in the village of Mto Wa Mbu.
Day 3 Karatu
Learn about Tanzania's village life on a leisurely stroll with a local guide then spend the night camping in Karatu.
Days 4-5 Serengeti National Park
It's time to go on safari! The vast, grassy Serengeti plains of Tanzania shelter big cats, wildebeest, zebras and gazelles. Venture out to spot them in the cooler hours of the early morning and late afternoon. Camp in the park, falling asleep to its nocturnal sounds. In the morning, perhaps take an optional balloon ride for an unforgettable sunrise over Tanzania's dramatic landscape.
Day 6 Ngorongoro Crater/Karatu
Explore the animal-filled extinct volcano, the Ngorongoro Crater, on a drive with a local guide. The crater is home to a diverse array of wildlife including rhinos, lions, leopards and elephants. After exciting encounters with the animal kingdom, spend the night relaxing at a campsite in Karatu.
Days 7-8 Marangu
Visit an inspirational school for street kids before witnessing the day-to-day life of the crop-growing Chagga people during a fascinating community visit.
Days 9-10 Usambara Mountains
Spend two nights in Tanzania's lush Usambara mountains. Take a walk from Lushoto to the Irente Viewpoint for amazing views of the terrain. Have fun learning about rural life while visiting a cultural centre and a working farm.
Days 11-12 Dar es Salaam
Leave the mountains behind and travel to Tanzania's tropical coast to camp beside gorgeous Kipepeo Beach in Dar es Salaam. Spend free time here visiting nearby villages, lazing by the water or watching camels, cows and goats being herded across the sand.
Days 13-16 Zanzibar
Visit Zanzibar and walk through the eclectic cobblestone streets of historic Stone Town. Visit an exotic spice plantation and breathe in the scent of fresh vanilla, cinnamon and ginger. Use free time to relax on the beautiful Zanzibar beaches, splash in the warm Indian Ocean or swim in the hotel pool.
Day 17 Dar es Salaam
Board a ferry and return to the bustling port city of Dar es Salaam where this fun-filled adventure ends.
