Giseny
Welcome to the Costa del Kivu! Gisenyi is a ritzy resort town for rich Rwandans and resident foreigners. The views over Lake Kivu and Nyiragongo to the northwest are magnificent, though be warned that the volcano blew its top in early 2002, consuming much of neighbouring Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Gisenyi is a secluded retreat for the country's well-to-do, which means that most of the action centres on the town's posh hotels and restaurants. If you're looking for something to do however, you can check out the Primus Brewery, about 7km (4.3mi) out of town along a stunning coastal road. Swimming and sunbathing on the area's lovely beaches is also a nice way…

A
SAB World of Beer
The SAB World of Beer offers a ridiculously good-value 90-minute jaunt through the history of beer, as narrated on video by hokey characters including a Bavarian brew master, an Egyptian explorer and Charles Glass, the founder of Castle breweries. On your journey through the beer-making process you’ll wander through a fake Egyptian temple, taste chibuku in a mock African village and sample a cheeky half pint at a re-created Victorian pub. If that weren’t enough your ticket also includes two pints in the bar afterwards.

Nile Brewery
For those consuming copious amounts of Nile Special in Kampala, this alternative 'source of the Nile' makes a lively day out, and includes the obligatory complimentary beer. Free guided tours can sometimes be arranged in advance by calling. There is a small souvenir shop where you can buy T-shirts, bottle openers and the like. It is certainly a more original brewery visit than the one to the Heineken brewery in Amsterdam.

Namibia Breweries
Formerly the home of Windhoek Lager, the old South-West Brewery building on the corner of Tal and Garten Sts was where the company used to produce Namibia's favourite liquid. The brewing operation changed its name to Namibia Breweries and moved to the Northern Industrial Area. Worthwhile tours of the modern brewery are made by appointment on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
