Lonely Planet review for Le Bistro
In a pleasant Kabuli house, this French restaurant has its own bakery attached, making the continental breakfast (US$10) a treat of bread, pastry and croissants. Evening meals are good, even if the servings are a little on the small side. Carpets and paintings festoon the walls, and there are regular art shows and sales on site.

A little bit of Paris in Kabul...
madskier03 recommends this,
Le Bistro attempts to capture the charm of a European-style cafe. Serving as an eatery as well as an art-house, it's walls boast paintings and carpets from local artisans. The owner, a middle-aged Frenchman with a penchant for conversation, personally makes visits to each table to check on his guests. The staff are attentive, and the food is quite good for Kabul with a combination of French and French/Afghan fusion as well as traditional cafe fare. One of the main draws is the bakery which makes excellent breads and pastries. Likewise, Le Bistro is well-known amongst the ex-pat scene for its Friday brunches. Though on the pricey side, it certainly makes for a worthwhile escape from the dust and traffic of Kabul.
