   Dakar's main arena for traditional wrestling is in Médina, near the large Stade Iba Mar Diop. Fights of big-name wrestlers are national sports events, held in Dakar's main stadium, Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor in Yoff. The entire population of Senegal eagerly awaits the results of the traditional star match held on 1 January.

   For wrestling check out the schedule at the Wrestling Palace , which is the ger-shaped building south of the Chinggis Khaan Hotel. In the lead-up to Naadam, you should be able to catch some informal, but still competitive, wrestling at the Naadam Stadium. The annual Naadam (11 and 12 July) features wrestling, horse racing and archery.

   During the dry season (November to May), you stand a good chance of seeing wrestling matches at the wrestling arena (really just a dusty field), east of Av Lycée Guignabo. They're usually held on late Sunday afternoons.

   Traditional Senegalese wrestling matches (les luttes) are held most weekends during the dry season at this stadium. The ambiance of sweaty excitement, shrill singing and furious drumming is electrifying.
