  1. Somnath - A Story of Constant Change... My post on the Club Mahindra Blog

    Blog: A Wandering Mind - 19 May 2012

The stepped seating arrangement made the place look like an amphitheatre – a small one though. In front of us was a huge temple, behind us the sea. The cool breeze was a welcome respite from the scorching heat of the day. Over us, the moon shone, brighter than usual, for it was a full moon night, and all around, the stars twinkled, perhaps smiling at us humans who had gathered to hear a story, almost as old as time. And why not?

  4. Mesmerized at Munnar

Blog: Arnab Maity Travel and Photography - 8 May 2012

One of the most difficult times for a long distance rider is when his body stops listening, starts malfunctioning and lands him into a soup! Last night had taken a terrible toll on my body, thanks to the high fever I had developed in the evening! I had been shivering all night under doses of antibiotics and antipyretics and things were looking extremely grim when I went off to sleep, thinking about calling off the trip.

  7. More birds from Sewri

    Blog: A Wandering Mind - 23 April 2012

In my earlier post, I wrote about the flamingos we saw at Sewri. They are, after all, the main reason people flock to Sewri these days at low tide! However, there are also scores of other birds which arrive at Sewri for the insects which populate the mud flats. This post is about some of them...

  8. Flamingos at Sewri

    Blog: A Wandering Mind - 21 April 2012

I usually look forward to the weekend events conducted by the BNHS, but of late, I had been missing out on a lot of interesting ones. It had been over a year since we had joined them for a Flamingo Watch, and with my new camera, it was more than just a little tempting! However, with all the hectic events planned for our weekend, I wasn't sure if Samhith would be up and ready so early in the morning. However, it is only for school that I have to shake him awake.

  9. Sunset at Somnath

    Blog: A Wandering Mind - 20 April 2012

We recently visited the Somnath temple during Samhith's short year-end break. We arrived at Somnath in the evening, and rushed for a glimpse of the deity, and then hurried to get my camera to capture the sight of the sun setting behind the temple...

Blog: Arnab Maity Travel and Photography - 30 March 2012

There is nothing quite like a road trip, the ochred rockies giving way to emerald paddies or clustered houses transitioning to dense settlements, a road trip comes with a promise of something new to the eye almost every time, even if its through a narrow side window of a bus or the wide windshield of a car.

  20. Experiencing Ayurveda at Kerala

Blog: Arnab Maity Travel and Photography - 19 March 2012

Ayurveda is an ancient medicinal science native to India. If you have grown up in India, it is highly likely that you have been exposed to some or the other forms of Ayurveda in your life. The Neem twig as a toothbrush or the combination of Basil, Ginger and Honey as a cure for throat infections have had their implementations in Indian households since ages unknown. 24. Temples around Ambaji

    Blog: A Wandering Mind - 8 March 2012

Our trip to Ambaji was combined with a visit to Mount Abu and Udaipur. We travelled mostly by local buses, and thanks to the timing of our bus to Udaipur, we had a few extra hours at Ambaji, which we used to visit a few more temples located in the area. We hired an auto for the purpose, and left the temples to his discretion. Here is where he took us to.......
